Panels: A Natural Civic Space at Santiago's Justice Center
The architecture, urban design, and societal principles
embodied in the new Judicial Center in Santiago make it
perhaps Chile's most significant recent project. The center's
design is serene and powerful, monumental and humane,
purposeful and abstract.
Its exterior defines a major new civic space, placing eight
glass-and-concrete buildings under a single ceremonial roof
canopy, all reflecting a large civic plaza. Echoing its noble
public face, a dignified but minimal modern aesthetic prevails
